A graduate and post graduate from University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore; doctorate in horticulture from University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. Procured  Overseas Technical Teachers Award (OTTA) from Oxford University (United Kingdom) during 1986-87. Served in various capacities starting from Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor of Horticulture for more than 35 years. Served as Dean, College of Horticulture, Bidar and KRC. College of Horticulture, Arabhavi (Belgaum district) for five years. While serving as Superintendent in Agricultural Research Station, Ullal (Mangalore), released Ullal-1,2, 3 and UN-50 varieties of cashew. Served as Head of AICRP scheme on Tropical fruits (Banana and Sapota). Screened tree suitable for growing inter crop in Horticulture component as different agro-forestry system. Established spices and plantation crops for teaching, research and extension purpose in Horticulture College, Arabhavi and Bidar, viz. Coconut, Areca nut, Cashew nut, Tamarind, Curry leaf, Oil palm and Turmeric, Ginger, Coriander, etc. as spice crops. Guided more than 23 M.Sc and one Ph.D. students in Horticulture. Published more than 60 research articles in national and international journals. Responsible for release of Cashew, Tamarind, Ginger of high yielding varieties which are more popular among the farming community. Life member of Indian Society of Agroforestry, Indian Society of Spices, IISR Calicut, Selection Committee member UPSC New Delhi, Academic Council Member (Expert), TNAU, Coimbatore. Visited United Kingdom, Belgium and Germany during 1986-87. Served as Member of Board Examination for PG Students in several Universities viz. TANU Coimbatore; UAS, Bengaluru; KAU, Thrissur, Kerala; Acharya N.G.R. Agricultural University, Hyderabad; MPKV Rahuri, Maharashatra. Served as Member of Selection Committee for Promotion of Scientists, ICAR, New Delhi.
