A graduate and post graduate from UAS, Bangalore; doctorate from Academy of Sciences, USSR; Post Doctoral Work in Univ. of Nottingham, UK and Tajik State University, Dushanbe, USSR. Worked in different capacities as: Asst. Professor, Plant Physiologist; Professor of Crop Physiology; Professor and Chief Scientific Officer (Forestry);  Dean of Forestry and Horticulture,  UHS, Bagalkot;  Director of Research, UAS, Raichur; Dean (Agri.); Director of Research; Registrar (in-charge); Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) and presently as Director of Research in Dharwad.  Received Karnataka State Government Award and Cash prize; University Gold Medal (2),Indo-USSR Exchange Programme, Academy of Sciences, USSR; UGC, Commonwealth Fellowship, Univ. of Nottingham, UK, ICAR Team Research Award, Patency and Cash Award, Young Scientist Award, National Fellow, Incentive Award, Dr. R.H. Dastur Memorial Gold Medal, National Fellow, Eminent Scientist of the Year Award -2008, Awareness programme on Climate Change and Biodiversity, Karnataka State Govt. Award, Incentive Award and National Fellow, etc.  Has 33 Years of teaching experience; Guided 19 M.Sc. (Agri), 3 Ph. D. students in Crop Physiology and  4 M.Sc. (Forestry); written 6 manuals and 2 teaching aids prepared for the students; Published more than 200  research papers;  3 books, 4 bulletins. Handled Research Projects: As Principal Investigator–7; as Co-Principal Investigator-10. Involved in the development of 9 Cotton Varieties/Hybrids and one Tomato variety, DMT-2. Developed 6 Technologies from the University for the benefit of farmers. Conducted 345 demonstrations in farmer’s field on Cotton Production technology, IFS demonstrations in 2500 acres in Uttar Kannada Dist. and in 46 RSK’s covering 4600 acres under UAS, Raichur jurisdiction Hyderabad-Karnataka region. Conducted 40 training programmes to Government officials and farmers on cotton seed production, Horticulture and Forestry. Visited United States, United Kingdom, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France, Hungary, Netherland, Bulgaria, Poland, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbazan, Afganisthan and Iran. Fellow of Cotton Research & Development Association, Hissar; Indian Society for Plant Physiology, New Delhi  and Confederation of Horticulture Association of India, New Delhi and life member of six societies.
